Why Does Hollywood Vehemently Hate Republicans?

I understand that Fox News is a more Right leaning cable news channel but I saw a story tonight on there that really got me thinking, why does most of Hollywood despise Republicans so much? For the life of me I can't figure it out. The news story I saw tonight showed several actors, actresses, and singers lashing out at how terrible Mccain and Palin are. Now I realize that people are going to have the beliefs and they may differ from mine and I'm fine with that, but utter hatred that these people displayed was unbelievable. You could here it in their voices and see it on their faces, and I just don't get it. Look I would never vote for Obama, I just don't believe in his ideas or his philosophy about where our country needs to go, but I simply don't hold the same rage and hatred for Obama that Hollywood and to be honest most Democrats have for Mccain and Palin. I don't think it is just anger towards Mccain and Palin either, I think it's a more general hatred for Republicans in general.

I do have one theory as to why there is this hatred. I think that it has to do with a misunderstanding of the term Conservative and liberal. Now try to stay with me on this. I think that people tend to confuse the political term Liberal and the pop culture term liberal. My understanding of the political term Liberal is, in a very abbreviated description, is big government, higher taxes, and socialized programs. Now my understanding of the pop culture term Liberal is free spirited, easy going, and independent. To me that seems to sum it up pretty well.

Now I think most people tend to confuse these terms, I think that most Liberals think that being politically Liberal is the same as being pop culturally Liberal. So in the Hollywood sense I think that most in Hollywood think that if you are politically liberal that means you are for personal freedom, and independence. However, in reality that is the general definition of a conservative. Conservatives in the traditional political sense are more about personal freedom, less government control, and independence. So it is with this misconception that traditional conservatives are demonized into gun toting red necks who cling to their religion, according to Obama. So that is just my take on why Hollywood democrats hate Republicans so much. Of course that is just my opinion and I could be wrong.

Great Week for Broncos Fans

Well this week was a nice piece of redemption for the Broncos defense. They did a pretty fair job of stopping the run today, but more importantly they were able to get to the quarterback and cause some problems. Our offense started off pretty slow but managed to get things going a little better in the second half. Our running game still doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders but at least Pittman has been solid or us. I'm looking forward to getting Ryan Torain back at running back.
They only thing I really want to see is a good defensive performance next week and the week after. Just like I think last week was a fluke that we played that poorly, I also don't want us to come out next week and be giving up big chunks of yardage again. I think we made some positive steps forward this week. Our defense actually helped us win this game which I didn't think was going to happen this season.
Nice job today for the Broncos and we will look forward to seeing Jacksonville next week.

The Movie Tax

I would like to make an announcement. As of today I am officially starting a movement called The Movie Tax Movement. (If I can come up with a better name later I may change it) The goal is to stop giving the Big Film Industry these outrageous tax breaks while middle America struggles to get by.

So what is the Movie Tax Movement or MTM'08? Well I'll tell you. I believe, though nobody else may that I am an intelligent, hard working, self motivated person with a reasonable understanding of the economy. Which is why it absolutely blows my mind that the Senate passed some rediculuous bailout bill totaling over $700 billion. It's insane. My plan is much simplier and would actually benefit middle america.

Here is my proposal. I think we need to put an end to the outragous profits once and for all in Hollywood. How can it be that the average Americans can't even pay their mortgages, or buy food for their families, or school supplies for their kids, yet Hollywood actors and actresses, and filmmakers are making record profits. I can't even go out on a date to a movie without spending over $20-25. Well I say enough is enough.

My proposal is a 15% movie profit tax. It would work very much like the current capital gains tax except there are no loopholes to get around paying it. If you make money on a movie 15% goes to uncle sam. End of story. However, those funds will not go right into the IRS slush fund, instead it will go directly to public schools to buy new supplies, books and desks (for Students).

Secondly, as part of the MTM'08 I am proposing the Film Industry Income Tax. (FIIT) This tax is simple. Any person earning at least half of their salary from film, TV, commercials, and other advertising, and if the earnings are over $250,000 a year there will be a 50% luxury tax. Again, same as before, no loopholes, no exceptions, no questions. Additionally, if you wanted to not have your money taxed by the IRS at 50%, you must donate all of your salary above $250,000 to public schools.

I recently looked up gas prices and over past 50 years and compared them to movie ticket prices over the past 50 years and the results are pretty amazing. People don't seem to have any problem paying outrageous prices for movies yet they freak out when gas prices go up a little. Well the time has come that people realize just how much they are getting ripped off by the big movie business. It's time to take those outrageous profits that Hollywood producers and actors are making and put those profits to good use. I saw something in the news too that said there is a big tax break for the film industry in the bailout package. Can someone please explain how the movie business has anything to do with the finance and mortgage industry? I have a theory and it involves corrupt politions and backroom deals being made.

So please join me in trying to put an end to madness and together we put an end to the runaway spending and salaries in the Movie business.

Thank you.

The season after the end of the 1st quarter

Well today I want to talk about this weekend's game between the Broncos and Bucs. Now I know there are a lot of fans that are freaked out about our defense based on what happened last week against the Chiefs, and i'm not going to sit here and tell you that it will all be okay because honestly I don't think it will. I think don't think our defense is going to win any games for us this year, but don't worry I don't think that will stop us from making the playoffs, and we may even win the division, but that is where it ends.

I hate to say it, but we are no serious contender, at least not this season. True our offense looks good but I don't think we have established an identity yet, and what I mean by that is we don't really have that X factor that intimidates people. I think we are getting there, but I think we still need to get our faces kicked in the mud a few more times before that happens. However, on a side note when Champ Bailey up ended Larry Johnson last weekend and caused that fumble, that was a glimpse of what I am talking about. Unfortunately in my view we are still 2 players away from that on defense. We need a new middle linebacker, and we need a nasty defensive tackle. Maybe we they are already on our team and they just haven't got put it all together yet, (Somehow I doubt that) or maybe this coming off season we can pick someone up in the draft.

So to sum up I think we are going to get knocked around a little more before we will truely be contenders. So hang in there you fair whether fans, our Super Bowl drought will have to go on for at least one more year, but who knows we are only at the end of the 1st quarter of the season and there is still a lot of football to be played.

As far as prediction for this weeks game. I think our offense will bouse back and score some points even against a good Tampa Bay D. I think our defense will play about the same so we will have to score at least 35 to win this game.

Final: Broncos 34- Bucs 30

Broncos vs KC

I was talking with my cousin tonight and he made an interesting point about the game with the Chiefs. He thinks this game is going to be a good test for our defense. It will be interesting to see how our defense plays against one of the worst teams in the league. I think that's a great point because it will be a great way to see what our defense can do. If they can stop the chiefs offense which should be pretty easy to do maybe our defense is not that bad, and maybe the last couple of weeks just show that the teams we played actually have pretty good offenses. That will be a refreshing since over the last couple of weeks our defense has been getting burned pretty badly.

I don't think our offense will have a problem scoring so I think we should win the game, but I am actually hoping to see our offense score a lot and then I want to see our defense stop the run, get a few turnovers, and I want to see them play hard in the second half, not let the Chiefs get back into the game late and make it another nail biter. If they can do that I will feel much better about the middle part of the season.

Some things I am a little concerned about is playing the Chiefs in KC where they always play tuff, and over the last couple of seasons they have had a tendency of play down to their opponents. They can't let this happen this week, they have to go in their and dominate so this is going to be a big game.

Prediction- Broncos 35 Chiefs 10

Broncos vs chargers

Well for my first ever blog I though I would keep it simple and just explain what I see are the key factors for the Broncos to win on Sunday. First of  all our defense needs a big day. Secondly, our running game needs to get going and finally we have to slow down Bush.

I know the first two games have been fun for Broncos fans to watch and I'll be the first to admit that Cutler looks awesome, but if there is anything that concerns me it's that our defense gave up 21 points in the second half to the Chargers last week and if it wasn't for our offense and a little luck we would have lost the game. So this week I am look for our defense to have a big day, let's see if they will be up to the task. The first thing they will have to do is stop the run, but they haven't been able to do it yet this year so we will see. They are also going to have to get some pressure on Brees as well he is also pretty good. I would also like to see a few turnovers this week. Nothing builds confidence to a shaky defense like turnovers. (or sacks)

The second factor is our running game, now I know it is a lot more exciting to see Cutler throw the ball 50 times a game and the Broncos average 40 ppg, but we have to be able to run the ball, and I know deep down everyone knows this too. If you run the ball you control the clock, and you demoralize the other team. I know our running game hasn't been bad so far but if Selvin Young wants to reach his goal of rushing for over 2000 yards this year, they are going to need to get things going.

Finally, they need to find a way to stop Reggie Bush. He has the ability to line up all over the place and can beat you many different ways, so we have to find a way to contain him, or at least slow him down.

Prediction: I think the Broncos are having to much fun in the passing game right now and I don't think the Saints have enough on defense to stop them so expect to see Cutler lighting up the scoreboard again this week.

Final Score: Broncos 38- Saints 28
